Moone Celtic 1 - 3 Allenwood, 22nd August
Moone hit the self destruct button and dropped yet another three points at home which leaves them a huge task in their last five games in division three. Allewood got of to a flyer when they rwere awarded a penalty early on when a late challange inside the box resulted in the visitors taking the lead. Things got worse for Moone when a poor pass from the back was intercepted by an alert Allenwood player to make it 2-0 on 35 minutes. Yet another mistake at the back led to Allenwoods third on the stroke of half time as Moone were wondering what had changed since last weeks victory away to Grangecon. Half time saw a couple of changes made for Moone and on 50 minutes Emmett Daly got a lifeline for the home side as he struck from thirty yards out. Moone never looked like scoring after that as they just couldn't find the rythem they were used to in the past two weeks. A poor home performance as this loss hands the initiative to Galhoy and Newtown to challange for league honours. Best for Moone on the day were Emmett Daly, John Lazenby, John Whelan and Mick Clowery.
Grangecon 1 - 5 Moone Celtic, 15th August
This was a strong message to Galhoy and Newtown that Moone are well and truely up for a fight to the end to contest for league honours in the run in to division three. Although Grangecon opened the scoring when a rare defensive error let the home side in on 5 minutes. This was a wakeup call for the visitors and ten minutes later Mikey Wall found the opener for Moone when he got on the end of a cross from Aaron McMahon on the left wing. Moone's second came just before the half when John Whelan got a perfect pass from Emmett Daly to take the lead. It didn't take the visitors long in the second half to hit the net again as Mick Clowery volled home a perfect corner from John Lazenby. Moone's fourth was taken by Whelan as he beat two defenders and then the keeper. The final goal on the day came on 80 minutes as Clowery got on the end of a cross from Anthony Hegarty. Best for Moone were Tom Hickey, Ken Darcy, Paul Dowling and Mikey Wall.
Barnhall 0 - 1 Moone Celtic, 01st August (Div 3/4 Cup 1st Rd)
Moone were happy to travel all the way to Barnhall as they progressed to the next round of the cup after a solid performance. Moone set the pace in the first half and could have went two up only to be denied by the post and some good goalkeeping from the Barnhall number one. Roger Holmes had done everything right several time but just couldn't find the back of the net for Moone. Barmhall's chances were few and far between as Moone's defense stood firm every time they were called upon. 0-0 at half time Moone new they had to up their performance in the second half. With quick passing and some good positional play Moone applied enormous pressure on the Barnhall back four for most of the half but it wasn't until the eighty second minute when they got the winner when Emmett Daly shot only for the keeper to parry and the ball somehow found it's way to the net. That was all the visitors needed as the game ended 1-0 and another win on the road for Moone. Best for Moone on the day were John Lazenby, Tom Hickey, Aaron McMahon and David Byrne.
Moone Celtic 1 - 2 Allenwood, 28th July
This was a major set back for Moone if they thought they were going to contest league honours this season. A late kick off didn't help their cause as Allenwood threw everthing they had behind the ball and hit the home side with a long ball from the back for the opener. Moone rallied and found the net when Mick Clowery headed home from a flick over the top to leave the sides level at half time. Moone never got going and seemed flat footed but committed men forward trying to find the winner. The winner came for the visitors when a cross from the left wing found an unmarked forward at the back post and he had the easiest of tap in's. Moone tried their best to try and get somthing from the game in the final fifteen but Allenwood to their credit held on to take all three points on the night. Best for Moone were Aaron McMahon, Paul Dowling, John Lazenby and Johnny Browne.
Moone Celtic 5 - 3 Galhoy (AET), 25th July (League Shield)
Yet another tight game between these two sides who gave an entertaining display all the way through to extra time only for Moone to have the legs in the end to take the win to progress to the last 16 in the shield. Galhoy opened the scoring on 33 minutes as Moone allowed too much space at the back. But Moone got back on level terms soon after as Emmett Daly drilled the ball to the net after a good "one-two" with Mikey Wall. Moone then took the lead as a back pass to the Galhoy keeper went straight into the net. The second half saw the home side produce good quick passing football but Galhoy were the team to capitalise as Moone tried to push bodies forward space was found again as the visitors got the equaliser and then went in front within ten minutes to leave Moone with it all to do in the final ten minutes. But in true style Moone never gave up and kept pushing the Galhoy defense until three minutes from the end Johnny Browne got on the end of a Mick Clowery cross to level things up at 3-3. Moone looked to have the edge on the visitors and just three minutes into extra time Kevin Anthony found Mick Clowery unmarked who beat the onrushing Keeper. Galhoy's heads dropped and the last kick of the game made it 5-3 to Moone as Emmett Daly got his second of the day when he took the ball off the visitors defense to score a brilliant solo effort. Best for Moone on the day were John Lazenby, Mick Clowery, Emmett Daly and man of the match Kevin Anthony.
Prosperous Utd 1 - 6 Moone Celtic, 21st July
Another good win on the road for Moone as Prosperous put up a right battle on the night but couldn't keep the quick passing game of Moone at bay. Prosperous however opened the scoring on eight minutes as Moone had a slow start which seemed to wake them up. Not long after that Moone got going as Kevin Anthony got on the end of a perfect corner to open their scoring. Moone settled down and on the half hour hit he front when Aaron McMahon crossed for Mick Clowery to hit home to leave the sides 2-1 at half time to the visitors. Moone started strong in the second half and another corner saw Johnny Browne drill Moone's third to the net on fifty five minutes. Heads dropped in the Prosperous camp and the floodgates opened and minutes later Emmett Daly was in after a good through ball from John Lazenby and Moone's fourth hit the net. Tome Hickey took an excellent free kick fourty yards out on sixty five minutes and Sean Kane slotted home as the home sides defense couldn't handle the movement from Moone's players. The scoring ended on eighty three minutes when Enda Kane was alert to take Moone's sixth as he was strongest to the ball inside the box. 6-1 to Moone as the temperature gets very hot at the top of division three with just one game left before the final third round of games. Best for Moone on the night were Paul Dowling, John Lazenby, Tom Hickey and Mick Clowery.
Clongorey 2 - 6 Moone Celtic, July 18th
Back to winning ways for Moone as Clongorey found it hard to close down the quick passing produced from this young side. Although the visitors were slow to start and only got going from a set piece as John Lazenby played a perfect corner for Kevin Anthony to strike to the back of the net for Moone's first on 30 minutes. Moone fell asleep ten minutes later as a long clearance from the Clongorey area found the boot of the only Clongorey attacker in Moone's half to beat Ken Darcy in the Moone goal on 40. Moone restored their lead on the stroke of half time as John Lazenby struck inside the box to leave the score 2-1 going into the second half. Strong words on the line for Moone at half time as they came out transformed for the second half. Mick Clowery extended Moone's lead on 60 as a through ball found him unmarked and he unleashed an unstoppable shot to the net. Johnny Browne grabbed Moone's fourth ten minutes later when he struck from well outside the area to beat the keeper. Emmett Daly got his first of two for the day on 75 as he bagged number five. In the closing minutes Clongorey grabbed a consolation as Moone's defence took their foot off the gas. Daly had the last word on the day as he got on the end of a perfect cross from Sean Kane to leave the score 6-2 to the visitors. Best for Moone were Aaron McMahon, Mikey Wall, Sean Kane and Tom Hickey.
Moone Celtic 2 - 2 Donard, July 14th
Moone got caught napping right from the start and found themselves a goal behind after five minutes as they failed to close down the west Wicklow men who moved the ball down the wing and crossed in for an advancing player to head home. Moone got back into the game on fifteen as a cross from Aaron McMahon was met by Paul Dowling on the edge of the box to drill the ball to the back of the Donard net to even things up. The home side got on top as quick passing improved their play and pushed Donard back deep. Moone got their second five minutes before the half as Emmett Daly followed up as the Donard keeper found the ball too hard to handle. The second half saw Donard take the initiative and pile the pressure on Moone and it was on seventy five minutes Donard leveled things up as Moone failed to close down inside their own eighteen yard box. Moone's Tom Hickey had two chances to take the win but couldn't hit the target. 2-2 the final score as Donard deserved the draw from the efforts they showed throughout. Best for Moone were Emmett Daly, John Lazenby, Kevin Anthony and Paul Dowling.
Rathangan 4 - 2 Moone Celtic, 04th July - Lumsden Cup
Moone started with a bang as they found themselves two up after just eight minutes with a strike from Kevin Anthony as a knock down from a corner was tapped in on three and a typical goal poachers goal saw Sean Kane alert to a goalkeeper fumble for their second. Rathangan answered straight back as a long ball found space behind Moone's back four for them to beat an onrushing keeper in the Moone goal. 2-1 to the division three side who were very much at the same pace as this Senior division side. Moone dominated play for most of the opening twenty minutes of the second half and Rathangans equaliser came through some unusually poor defending from Moone's back four to allow them in on 70 minutes. Heads dropped from Moone and ten minutes later found themselves in a similar situation as Rathangan hit the lead. The home side weren't going to let this slip and sealed the victory five minutes later as a through ball found their striker one on one with Ken Darcy who had no chance for the fourth. Best for Moone on the day were Kevin Anthony, Mick Clowery, Paul Dowling and Tom Hickey.
Moone Celtic 1 – 1 Grangecon, 13th June
Two points dropped for the home side as a determined Grangecon side held on in the end to take a point each in this entertaining match at Belan Avenue. Moone started off the stronger and pushed the Grangecon defence deep in the first opening exchanges until a deep cross from the boot of David Byrne on the right was flicked on to the net by Mick Clowery on 8 minutes. The game was played at a high tempo after that with Moone the dominant team on the ball but Grangecon very much up to the task. 1-0 to the home side at half time with Grangecon growing in belief that they could get something from the game. The second half started as the first left off as Moone pressed for their second, but as they did they left space at the back for the visitors to grab the equaliser on 60 minutes. Things could have got worse for Moone as Grangecon were awarded a penalty on 75 minutes but couldn’t find the net. Moone piled on the pressure after that and had several chances to take the win only to be denied by strong defending and the post in the final minute of the game. One a piece in the end with Aaron McMahon, John Lazenby, Paul Dowling and Mick Clowery all playing well for Moone.
Redwood 2 – 3 Moone Celtic, 06th June
A dramatic end to an entertaining game in Naas as Moone edged out Redwood to advance to the next round of the Lumsden Cup. Redwood started with a bang as just after 7 minutes hit the lead when a goalkeeping error allowed the home side to score. And were two up after 20 when a long ball from the back narrowly beat the offside trap to allow Redwood in for their second. Moone fought back though and on 30 minutes got a free kick on the edge of the area and as Sean Kane unleashed the shot the Redwood keeper had no chance as it took a wicked deflection into the net for Moone to begin their fight back. 2-1 to the home side at half time Moone finishing the stronger but with a lot to do for the second half. And the visitors hit the ground running in the second half as just after 5 minutes in Mick Clowery picked up the ball forty yards out to beat the defence and slot past an onrushing Redwood keeper. Moone applied all the pressure after that as Redwoods heads dropped but it wasn’t until the 89th minute when Mikey Wall got an inch perfect pass from John Lazenby to grab the winner. Best for Moone in this dramatic comeback were John Whelan, Mick Clowery, Keith Browne and man of the match playing centre half Tom Hickey.
Moone Celtic 1 - 2 Galhoy, 3rd June
These evenlty matched sides met again on a fantastic evening in Moone but the visitors this time came away the victors as Moone's performance was well below par. Galhoy got off to a flyer as after just three minutes hit the front as Moone didn't deal with quick passing from the start. Twenty minutes later Galhoy went two up from a free kick perfectly taken to give Ritchie Brown in the Moone goal no chance. Moone started to attack more and had several chances to get back into the game but just couldn't find the target. 2-0 to the visitors Moone had to throw caution to the wind to get back into the game for the second half. As Galhoy defended well Moone were frustrated every time as poor finishing let them down. Moone got a lifeline ten minutes from the end as they were awarded a penalty of which Aaron McMahon dispatched to the net. Moone tried everything after that but to no avail as Galhoy ran out worthy winners. Best for Moone were John Lazenby, Mikey Wall, Kevin Anthony and Ritchie Browne.
Newtown Rovers 1 – 2 Moone Celtic, 30th May
This was a huge result for Moone as they played out a fantastic game of football to watch at Booleigh Cross. Newtown were egar to keep the pressure on at the top of division 3 as the first half saw little between the two sides only the odd break through defence at either end but both keepers were quick off their lines to avert any danger. 0-0 at half time the second half would indeed provide the drama of the day. And with fifteen minutes gone in the half Emmett Daly played an inch perfect ball over the top to Sean Kane who took one touch and slotted the ball pass the advancing Rovers Keeper to the corner of the net. The home side rallied and within ten minutes were back on level terms as Moone failed to clear a simple ball and Rovers took full advantage to slot pass Ritchie Brown in the Moone goal. With just ten minutes left on the clock Daly again turned provider as he played Kane into the box and with a very tight angle Kane grabbed what was to be the winner and his second of the day. Rovers tried hard in the end to get something out of the game but Moone’s defence stood firm to run out winners in this entertaining tie. Best for Moone were Mikey Wall, Killian Deere, Mick Clowery and Johnny Browne.
Donard 1 - 4 Moone Celtic, May 15th
New team to the league Donard hosted a Moone side who knew all three points were required to take top spot in Division 3. And as Galhoy were idle and Newtown a point behind going into their game Moone took full advantage of a team who will no doubt improve in the coming seasons. Moone started the stronger as two touch football put the home side on the back foot and were one up after twelve minutes as a corner from John Lazenbys boot was headed home by Kevin Anthony who jumped highest in the box. Moone's second came soon after with some good work on the right wing Killian Deere sent a cross deep into Donards area, Johnny Browne laid it off to Sean Kane who drilled home his first of two for the day. Donard faught back within a couple of minutes as a perfectly taken corner was flicked onto the back post and headed home to the visitors net. It was nip and tuck between both sides as each defence held their lines up until the stroke of half time when Lazenby was on hand to provide the perfect through ball for Kane to grab his second. 3-1 to the visitors at half time with everything to play for in the second half. Just like the first half Moone played the ball about quickly but Donard didn't allow the same flow Moone enjoyed in the first half. Both keepers were called upon on a number of occasions but stood firm. The final goal of the game came on seventy five minutes when Moone were awarded a free kick thirty yards out and when Ken Darcy unleashed his effort only the net was going to stop the shot. A good win for Moone on the road as the heat is turned well and truely up at the top of division 3. Best for Moone on the day were Johnny Browne, Emmett Daly, Killian Deere and man of the match Ritchie Browne in the Moone goal.
Moone Celtic 5 - 2 Clongorey United, 10th May
Moone needed to bounce back from their slip up last week against Grangecon and they didn't dissapoint. Right from the start the visitors were put under pressure as Moone sent attack after attack down either flank and just on seventeen minutes Mikey Wall took advantage of a goalkeeper fumble which he tucked away for Moones first. Sean Kane grabbed their second under the same circumstances leaving the visitors trailing by two at half time. Moone came out all guns blazing after a tough team talk at half time as Johnny Browne took a pass from the tip off and beat three defenders to rifle home a shot to the bottom right corner with his left boot. The visitors looked dejected and fifteen minutes later Emmett Daly hit an unstoppable shot from 30 yards out to the top left corner to stretch Moone's lead to four. Moone's fifth came on seventy five as Kane shot from inside the box to grab his second of the day. Clongorey never gave up thought as they got two late consolation goals to leave the final score 5-2 to the home side. John Lazenby, Aaron McMahon, Killian Deere and Paul Dowling all played well for Moone.
Grangecon 2 - 1 Moone Celtic, 2nd May
Moone slipped up away from home as so many missed chances was the difference between these two sides. Grangecon opened the scoring as Moone's back four allowed a rare attack for Grangecon through to go one up after seven minutes. Moone had a number of chances in the first half to get back on level terms but just couldn't find the net as the home sides keeper was solid. 1-0 at half time Moone needed to increase the tempo of the game to get back into it. And on the fifty minute mark Moone's Kevin Anthony rose highest in the box to head home the equalizer. Ten minutes later Grangecon were back in front as a mistimed tackle led to a penalty been given to the home side of which the cooly slotted home. Moone didn't drop their heads and faught till the bitter end but to no avail. Grangecon held out winners in the end as they soaked up attack after attack in the final fifteen minutes. Moone can be happy enough with their performance but need to get more clinical in front of goal if they have any chance of been in the shake up come the end of the season. Kevin Anthony, John Lazenby, Killian Deere and Mikey Wall all played well for the visitors.
Allenwood 1 - 5 Moone Celtic, 25th April
Moone knew they needed to keep the pressure on at the top of the division 3 table as they overcame a determined Allenwood side who never gave up till the end. Moone found it hard to break the home sides defence down and it wasn't until 30 minutes in when Emmett Daly found the net for what was to be his first of three of the day. Daly grabbed his second on 50 minutes and his hat trick on 60 minutes as Moone seemed to be coasting. Allenwood on the other hand had a different view and on 65 minutes got a lifeline as Moone defence failed to deal with a through ball. The visitors responded well as Sean Kane hit Moone's fourth to put the game well out of reach going into the last fifteen minutes. John Lazenby finished off Moone's tally with a rocket of a shot on 82 minutes. A solid three points for Moone as Richard Browne in the Moone goal, Kevin Anthony, Tom Hickey and John Whelan all played well for the visitors.
Moone Celtic 4 - 0 Prosperous Utd, 11th April
Moone were on top right from the start and pushed the visitors deep into their half throughout. Prosperous defended strongly and denied Moone on several occasions up until Johnny Browne opened the scoring on twenty five minutes as he followed up an attack down the right wing and hit an unstoppable shot to the net. Brown was on hand ten minutes later as a wide ball was crossed for him to volley home. 2-0 at half time Moone knew the visitors would throw everything at them in the second half. Moone's back four were solid for the second half yet again and showed very little for Prosperous to get onto. As Prosperous committed players forward to find a way into the game it left plenty of space for Emmett Daly to run onto a quick ball from the back for home to grab his second of the season. Moone were flying at this stage and piled on even more pressure to ensure they got all three points with fifteen minutes left. Moone's Kevin Anthony headed home the final goal of the game as a perfectly placed cross from Daly found him unmarked in the box. A good performance from Moone as Prosperous pushed them very hard to earn all three points. Killian Deere, John Lazenby, Ken Darcy and man of the match Johnny Browne all played well for Moone.
Moone Celtic 4 - 2 Newtown Rovers, April 4th
The new team to the league were out to prove to all they were no pushovers as from the start they got stuck in. Moone on the other hand were only interested in getting maximum points from their first home fixture of the year. The pace was set by Moone from the start as both wingers were in flying form down either flank. The visitors back four were hard to break down and it wasn't until the 20 minute mark that Moone opened the scoring from a perfectly placed free kick 30 yards out from Emmett Dalys boot. Rovers fought back and were on level terms going in at the break when a goal mouth scramble somehow found it's way across the line. Moone came out all guns blazing in the second half when 5 minutes in Kevin Anthony headed home their second. Rovers then pushed forward and were rewarded with their second on the 60 minute mark to level things up. Moone held their nerve though and started to increase the pace of the game with some good two touch football. Mikey Wall grabbed Moone's third on 75 as a cross from the right wing found him unmarked in the box for Wall to rifle home. The visitors heads dropped and were two behind 10 minutes later as Sean Kane finished off Moone's tally for the day. 4-2 the final score as Ritchie Brown, Emmett Daly, John Brown and Killian Deere all played well for Moone on the day.
Galhoy 1 - 1 Moone Celtic, 28th March
Galhoy started the stronger of the two sides as they pushed Moone deep into their own half for the first third of the half. A long ball onto the box by Galhoys number 6 wasn't dealt with and found it's way to the back of the net after some scrappy defending. Moone rallied and soaked up the pressure until the break as they went in a goal down knowing they would need to up their game for the second half. Moone started off well and could have been back on level terms but just couldn't get past the solid Galhoy defense. Just on 75 minutes Roger Holmes was one on one with the Galhoy keeper and was brought to the ground for a penalty. John Lazenby dispatched the kick to level things up. The final fifteen minutes was all Moone as they pushed hard to find the winner. Galhoy held out for the draw but on the day Richard Brown in the Moone goal, Kevin Anthony, Aaron McMahon, Anthony Hegarty and man of the match Ken Darcy all played well for Moone.

Division 3/4 Shield Final
Moone Celtic 1 - 1 Galhoy (Galhoy win 5-4 on penalties)
There is no tougher way to loose out in a final than the dreaded penalty shoot out. Although given the situation of loosing out Moone knew that this team has the potential of great things in years to come and this is a learning experience for each and every member of the squad. The first 20 minutes was all Moone and they could have been three up by the time John Lazenby scored the opener. Galhoy grabbed the equaliser soon after against the run of play and seemed happy to hang on to it until the very end. Moone were reduced to ten men with fifteen minutes of normal time remaining which made it very difficult for Moone to threaten Galhoy in any way. Extra time saw Moone produce the more attacking football and were unfortunate not to grab the important winner before the shootout arrived. Defeats like this builds character and with the positive attitude that manager Martin Timmons shows the players I think we are looking at the start of something special for Moone at senior level. Best for Moone on the day were Ken Darcy, John Hegarty, Tom Hickey, MJ Kane, Kevin Anthony, Mikey Wall, Emmett Daly, John Lazenby, Anthony Hegarty, Vinny Dowling, Mick Clowery and Enda Kane along with the subs John Whelan, Paul Dowling and Barry Anderson.
Division 3/4 Shield Semi Final
Moone Celtic 5 – 1 Kilcock, October 25th
Both teams were keen to get off to a good start and for the first twenty minutes of the game neither team settled down to play ball. Moone then started to use the wings effectively and found themselves on the attack on several occasions. This pressure paid of just on the 39 minute mark as a shot from Sean Kane in the box was handled by a defender and the home side got a penalty for their hard work. Tom Hickey stepped up and dispatched to the net. 1-0 to Moone at half time as the visitors looked dejected facing into a stiff breeze for the second half. The second half was only kicked off when Moone doubled their lead through some quick play from Emmett Daly to hit the target. Two minutes later Moone’s Mikey Wall was on hand to tap in to the net after Kane was provider yet again. Kilcock heads dropped as Moone went four up three minutes later as Vinny Dowling headed home from an inch perfect corner kick. Kilcock pulled one back on 68 as Moone looked to switch off for an instant. This woke Moone up again and John Lazenby spotted the keeper off his line as he finished the scoring with a shot from 30 yards out. 5-1 to Moone the final score as they know the final will be quite a different story against Galhoy next week. Best for Moone were MJ Kane, Anthony Hegarty, John Hegarty and Ken Darcy.
Division 3/4 Shield Quarter Final
Moone Celtic 4 - 2 Prosperous, October 18th
Prosperous were hoping to reverse the result of a couple of weeks ago when these two sides met in a league fixture. Moone on the other hand knew that the visitors weren't going to be rolled over and were closing down every move they made right from the start. The home side settled quickest and as they passed the ball well into space Vinny Dowling found an opening and gave the keeper no chance to open the scoring for Moone. The visitors rallied and were back on level terms on the thirty minute mark as Moone's defense were caught napping. Five minutes before the half time whistle Tom Hickey got his head to a cross from the left wing to restore Moone's lead. Moone came out after the break all guns blazing and were 3-1 up after Sean Kane crossed for John Lazenby to rifle home on 50. Five minutes later Emmett Daly was the provider as Dowling grabbed his second of the day as a cross from the right was met with a volley at the back post to make it 4-1. Prosperous were awarded a penalty on 70 minutes which they dispatched to make the final 20 minutes somewhat nervous for the home side, but Moone kept pressure on until the very end which was enough to see them through to the semi final. Best for Moone were John Hegarty, Ken Darcy, John Lazenby and Tom Hickey.
League Shield Quarter final
Moone Celtic 0 - 1 Sallins, October 11th
A tight contest between both teams with the home side showing more determination throughout but lacking the final killer punch up front to win the game. The first half saw Moone playing the ball wide to their wingers to try and spread the Sallins defense but the visitors were in fine form at the back and were in control throughout. The second half was more of the same but just on the 60th minute mark Sallins broke down the left and were awarded a penalty after an alleged foul inside the box from which Sallins cooly dispatched. Paul Dowling in goals for Moone was outstanding as he tipped two goal-bound free kicks over the bar to keep Moone in the game throughout. Moone's captain Emmett Daly had a chance at the death to take the game to extra time but he saw his quickly taken free kick to Sean Kane go wide of the post. Best for Moone on the day were Mikey Wall, John Lazenby, Emmett Daly and Vinny Dowling.
Moone Celtic 3 – 1 Prosperous, September 20th
Moone were looking for a repeat performance after last weeks win over Carbury in the League Shield 2nd round and the home side didn’t disappoint. Some scrappy play early on made it hard for either team to settle down but Moone made the most of a late challenge in their box as Tom Hickey hit the net from the spot to put the home side one up after ten minutes. Just on forty minutes Moone doubled their lead through Vinny Dowling who broke from the half way line to win the one on one contest with the Prosperous keeper. The second half saw Prosperous step up a gear and in the fifty fifth minute got one back through some sloppy defending at the back for Moone. Moone responded well and were unlucky not to extend their lead as persistent attacking play saw quite a number of attempts foiled by a defiant Prosperous defence. Moone eventually sealed the victory in the eighty fifth minute as Mick Clowery tapped home from two yards out. Best for Moone on the day were John Lazenby, Sean Kane, Emmett Daly and Mikey Wall.

Moone Celtic 3 - 1 Carbury SC, September 13th
This game started off with the two team's evenly matched only for a couple of attacks to be dealt with easily by each set of defenders. Midway through the first half Moone were reduced to ten men after a second yellow card offense. The visitors reacted quickly and found themselves one up through a short corner pass to the edge of the box which was slotted home in the bottom corner of the net. Moone had to dig deep and just before the break Sean Kane volleyed home the equaliser to the top left corner. Moone came out the stronger in the second half as they introduced fresh legs early on. Persistent attacks throughout paid off midway through the half as Moone found the lead through a cross from Mick Clowery who linked up with John Lazenby to flick to the net. The home side never looked back and went from strength to strength as the game progressed. Five minutes from the end Kane grabbed his second with a tap in after Mick Clowery showed outstanding skill to beat the Carbury defense. 3-1 to Moone in the end with some great performances from Tom Hickey, Paul Holden, Paul Dowling and MJ Kane.

Moone celtic 2 - 5 Sallins, 19th July
Newbridge dominated play as their home advantage paid off to secure a win to see them through to the last sixteen of the Lumsden Cup. 2-0 up at half time the writing was on the wall for Moone who battled hard to get something out of the game. 4-0 up after 60 minutes Newbridge were looking confident on every attack. The next twenty minutes however saw the home side reduced to a nervous wreck as Moone pulled two back through Tomas Murphy and Sean Kane. With ten minutes left on the clock Moone threw everything at Newbridge to try and rescue the game but as numbers were left light at the back for Moone, Newbridge broke on eighty seven minutes to finish the game off. 5-2 the final score to Newbridge with some spirited performances from Moone through Ken Darcy, Tomas Murphy, Sean Kane and John Lazenby.
Moone Celtic 1 – 4 Redwood, June 28th
A flattering score line for the visitors but a deserved win none the less. Redwood got off to a flyer when a cross from the wing found its way to the back of the net. Moone seem to give themselves an up hill task in games and then start to play. From the opener the home side pushed hard to find a way back into the game but to no avail as Redwoods defence were solid. Redwood went two clear as sloppy defending let Moone down. Moone were given a life line when Sean Kane got his head to a cross to put some pressure on Redwood but the sustained pressure on their defence yielded nothing. As Moone were committing bodies forward Redwood got two late breaks and score two soft goals to leave the game 4-1 to Redwood. Best for Moone were Sean Kane, John Lazenby, Tomas Murphy and Emmett Daly.
Redwood 2 – 1 Moone Celtic, June 21st League Cup 1st Round
A game that Moone deserved something from only to be denied by lack of experience in the end. Redwood took the lead only after three minutes when a short corner was taken and Moone failed to clear the ball. After that Moone started to push Redwood into their own half and were unlucky time and time again as Redwoods defence made the last gasp clearance every time. The equaliser came just before half time as John Hegarty’s shot was saved by Redwood’s keeper who parried to the on-coming Mick Clowery who doesn’t miss from in front of the goal too often. 1-1 at half time with Moone dominating the game. The second half saw Moone step it up another gear and commit men forward to push for the winner but it was the home side who got the rub of the green as an attempted cross deflected into Moone net of an unlucky defender. Moone tried to get back on level terms but were foiled by Redwood who was camped in their own half for most of the last fifteen minutes. Emmett Daly could have levelled things as his shot was tipped onto the crossbar by Redwood’s keeper. 2-1 the final score as John Hegarty, Tomas Murphy, David Byrne and John Lazenby all playing well for Moone.
Grangecon 3 - 5 Moone Celtic, June 10th
A fabulous summer evening in Grangecon saw plenty of goals in this thrilling mid week fixture. The home team started off the brighter and soon found themselves one up when a free kick found its way past Moone's defense to an empty net. This seemed to wake up the visitors though as just on 25 minutes Sean Kane got on the end of a Mikey Wall cross to head home his first of two on the night. Moone's Mick Clowery got his first of a hat trick on 32 minutes as another cross was slotted home by him to double Moone's tally. Moone stretched their lead again as Clowery made it three as he received the ball in the box, turned and shot low to give the keeper no chance. Grangecon fought their way back in the second half and eventually got back to level terms through persistent pressure. An exciting final 15 minutes were in store. Moone's fitness came through in the end as Kane grabbed his second as he beat the offside trap and lobbed a perfect ball over an onrushing keeper to make it 4-3. Just on the stroke of full time Clowery got his hat trick as a perfectly placed corner was headed home at the back post. 5-3 to Moone the final score with a great team performance. Players that stood out for Moone were with Kevin Anthony, John Lazenby, Tom Hickey and MJ Kane.
Moone Celtic 1 - 3 Castle Villa, June 7th
The very first competative meeting of these two local clubs since they were both formed produced some exciting play all throughout the game with Moone looking the better of the two but only to be found out with experience at the end of the day. The home side started the stronger with Emmett Daly, Mick Clowery and Tom Hickey all putting pressure on Villa's back four right from the start. Villa weathered the storm and just on fifteen minutes Malcolm Kirwan popped up on the edge of the area too drill home an unstoppable shot. Moone rallied and attacked straight away forcing Villa to retreat back to their eighteen yard box. This sustained pressure paid off when Daly's shot on target could only be parried into the net by the Villa keeper. With 70% possession Moone looked to be well on top but through experience Villa managed to get another one on thirty five minutes as Kirwan found himself unmarked from a corner at the back post. 2-1 to the visitors at half time Moone came in dejected after putting in a huge performance in the first half and coming out the wrong end of the score line. The second half saw more of the same as Moone threatening down the left and right wings only to be denied by solid defending. The killer blow for Moone came on the sixty fifth minute when Ger Murphy found himself unmarked to slot home the final goal in the game. Moone could have came back in the contest only to be denied on three occasions by the post before the end. 3-1 to Castle Villa in the end with MJ Kane, Tom Hickey, John Lazenby and Anthony Hegarty all playing well for Moone.
Redwood 7 - 3 Moone Celtic, May 17th
A flattering score line for the home team but with a number of key players missing for Moone it was going to be tough to get a result from this tie. Early on Redwood got an off side decision to open the scoring in the first minute.A disheartened Moone side never recovered and on 12 minutes fell further behind after some sloppy defending. Just on half time Redwood grabbed their third. Moone had it all to do. On the 60 minute mark Redwood extended their lead through some good passing play. Moone pulled one back on 62 when Emmett Daly grabbed the first of his hatrick. Redwood had no intention of letting Moone back into the game and answered that straight back on 65 and 70 minutes. Daly netted his next two on 80 and 82 but it was Redwood who had the last say when just on the stroke of full time rounded off the scoring 7-3. Best for Moone were Kevin Anthony, Tom Hickey, Jim Fleming and Emmett Daly.
Moone Celtic 6 - 2 Clongorey United, May 8th
A couple of advantages of Summer Soccer were on show as these two sides met in 'great conditions' on Friday 'evening' last in Belan Avenue. The home side started well as just after 30 seconds captain Emmett Daly took a pot shot at the Clongorey goal which decieved the keeper and found it's way to the back of the net. This settled Moone down and they pushed hard throughout the first 45 minutes with Mikey Wall grabbing his first of three on the night on the 20 minute mark and Daly getting his hatrick through goals on 43 and 45 minutes. 4-0 at half time the visitors knew they would need an early goal in the second half to mount a serious challenge. It came on 47 through a perfectly placed freekick which curled around the Moone wall. Clongorey stepped up a gear and applied some serious pressure but the Moone defense stood firm and didn't panic. Wall got his second on 65 when he lobbed an advancing Clogorey keeper to put the game vertually out of reach. Moone did have something to worry about for the last 20 minutes when Clogorey were awarded a penalty for an alleged hand ball but Moone answered almost straight away with Wall getting his third to finish the game up at 6-2. Best for Moone were the hat trick heroes Emmett Daly and Mikey Wall while Jim Fleming in goals and center half Kevin Anthony done well also.
Moone Celtic 0 - 2 Clane Utd, May 3rd
Moone looked far from prepared for this one as it could have been a bigger defeat if Clane had to have taken half of their chances throughout the game. Moone had a number of chances in the first half through some good one touch football only to be cleared by a strong Clane defense. Clane's keeper was in top form and had his entire area covered every time Moone threatened to score. 0-0 at half time Moone were going to have to come up with something special to win this one and for the first twenty minutes of the second half the home side pushed hard but to no avail. Just on 75 minutes Clane cleared the ball long downfield which deceived the Moone defense and an onrunning attacker took full advantage of the mistake. With heads dropped in the home team five minutes later Clane doubled their lead and wrapped up all three points for the visitors. Best for Moone on the day were MJ Kane, Kevin Anthony, Emmett Daly and Anthony Hegarty.
Prosperous 2 – 1 Moone Celtic, April 26th
With 70% of the possession the visitors would have expected to come away with something from this one but the resilient Prosperous unit really stuck together when it counted to take all three points. An early goal on five minutes settled the home side and Moone rallied hard to bring the scores back on level terms on forty minutes through some fine one touch football from which Tom Hickey got on the end of an Emmett Daly cross. Moone threw everything at Prosperous who were solid at the back and in no humour to rest for a draw as a quick break from the back on seventy minutes gave them the breathing space to finish out the game 2-1. Moone could have levelled things at the death as Roger Holmes saw his fine cross go inches from an oncoming pack of attackers. Best for Moone were Tom Hickey, John Hegarty, JJ Grace and John Lazenby.
Caragh 1 - 1 Moone Celtic, April 19th
Moone were unlucky not to take all three points from this one as the upright saved Caragh on several occasions throughout. Anthony Hegarty opened the scoring on twenty minutes as Moone enjoyed plenty of possession and applied a lot of preasure on Caraghs back four. Just on thirty five minutes Caragh had a quick break down the left wing and as a mistimed challenge came in the result was the home side being awarded a penalty which was cooly dispatched. Moone had several chances to take the lead but it wasn't meant to be. Captain, Emmett Daly was man of the match for Moone while Kevin Anthony, Tom Hickey, Willy Clynch and MJ Kane all gave a huge effort to secure an away draw for the visitors.
Moone Celtic 6 - 3 Grangecon, April 12th
A beautiful Easter Sunday morning saw a nine goal thriller going to the home side who started slow but determination and fitness won out in the end. Moone had most of the possession early on but Grangecon showed good resolve on the ball and were one up after 5 minutes with a superperbly taken freekick. Moone hit back on 18 when Tom Hickey beat the off-side and leveled things up. Right from the tip off Grangecon played a long ball which Moone's defense found hard to deal with and the visitors took full advantage to regain the lead. Moone conceded another on 29 minutes as they struggled to clear their lines. Moone's JJ Grace snatched one back on 35 when a free kick wasn't dealt with by Grangecon inside the six yard box. 3-2 down at the break Moone knew they would have to up a gear to take the points and that's exactly what they did. Ten minutes in Emmett Daly picked up the ball outside the eighteen yard box beat two defenders and let fly, the keeper found it hard to hold on to and the ball found it's way to the back of the net. Moone were making plenty of movement off the ball and Grangecon were finding it hard to keep the home side at bay. On 75 minutes John Lazenby took the ball wide on the right and spotted Mikey Wall at the back post, Wall didn't hesitate and with a firm header from the cross Moone were 4-3 up. Grangecon heads dropped and straight from the tip off Moone were awarded a penalty which Paul Holden dispatched with ease. Just on the 90 minute mark Anthony Hegarty took a free kick wide on the right which deceived the keeper and sailed all the way to the back of the net. 6-3 the final score with MJ Kane, John Lazenby, Emmett Daly and JJ Grace all playing well for the Moone.
Sallins 0 - 3 Moone Celtic, April 5th
Both sides were egar to start the season in winning ways, but Moone were quicker to settle down and soon applied pressure on Sallins back four. Just on 15 minutes Moone's John Lazenby picked up the ball wide on the right and played a perfectly weighed cross for Emmett Daly to head home for their first of the day. Sallins heads dropped and it wasn't long before another quick ball into the box found Daly who was pulled to the ground for a penalty. Paul Holden didn't hesitate as he stepped up to dispatch Moone's second on the 20 minute mark. 2-0 down at half time Sallins new they had a lot to do in the second half against a strong wind. Both sides traded attack after attack and it wasn't until the 92nd minute when man of the match Lazenby crossed again to find Niell Shaugnassey at the back post to finish of the game 3-0 to Moone. Best for Moone on the day were Paul Holden, Kevin Anthony, John Lazenby and Emmett Daly.

Seniors Division 1, 08/09 League
Town House "B" 2 - 1 Moone Celtic, League game November 16th
Town House got exactly what they deserved out of this one as they were the most committed of the two sides. Moone looked like it was the first time they played together as time after time they found themselves on the back foot after some basic errors been made on the ball. Moone's keeper Ken Darcy kept them in the game for most part as early in the second half he was let down yet again out the field with some poor effort from his team mates only for the home side to take full advantage. It wasn't long after that when Town House found themselves two up after Moone tried to pushed forward to get the equaliser but were left exposed at the back. Moone got one back with ten minutes left on the clock from JJ Grace and could have snatched a late equaliser only to be denied by the post. All in all a poor performance on the road from Moone but hopefully they can take some lessons from the fight back they showed near the end.
Moone Celtic 0 - 3 Kilcock, November 1st League Cup Quarter Final
A closer contest rather than the scoreline would suggest. The fist half saw Kilcock look the sharper side with Moone showing the affects of been two weeks without a game. The opening goal came from some strong midfield work from the visitors but the final ball forward looked to be a shade offside, defenders stopped, forwards kept going, no whistle, goal. Kilcock took full advantage of Moone's lack of urgency after that and soon found themselves with a penalty for a mistimed tackle in the box. On the second penalty take attempt Kilcock were two up. 2-0 at half time Moone had a mountain to climb. A better half from the home side with some good passing to apply pressure on Kilcocks defense. Moone got a free kick just outside the centre circle and with a perfect floating ball into the box took full advantage of a drop from Kikcocks keeper to find the net only for the goal to be disallowed. Heads totally dropped after that and just two minutes from the end finished the game as a contest as Kilcock got their third. Best for Moone on the day were Colm Kane, Gary Hendy and Mick Clowery.
Moone Celtic 1 - 1 Kingstown FC, League game 19th October
High winds made it hard for either team to really make an impact in this one but Moone could say they left all three points behind them as too many chances were not taken when given the opportunity. It took Moone until the 44th minute to take the lead with the wind in their backs. Some quick closing down in midfield to allow Mark Kavanagh to have a shot on target only for the visiting keeper to parry to the oncoming Mick Clowery who doesn't miss in instances like this. 1-0 to Moone at half time with a second half to come against a very strong breeze for Moone. The visitors started to play the long ball with the wind and were putting ever increasing preasure on the Moone goal until the only defensive error from Moone of the day saw Kingstown take full advantage. Moone had two chances just ten minutes to go to take all three points only for Kingstowns defense to deny at the death. 1-1 was probably a fair result with the weather conditions not suiting either team. Mick Clowery, again Moone's outstanding contributer while Colm Kane, JJ Grace and Kevin Anthony done their part for the home team.
Moone Celtic 3 - 0 Clane , League game 12th October
Moone hit the ground running and got stuck into this one from the start. Plenty of pressure in the first 10 minutes saw Clanes back four back peddle for some time. A corner was the result of a hasty clearance on 12 minutes only for Anthony Hegarty to send in the perfect cross which JJ Grace stuck first time from the 18 yard line, 1-0. Moone settled down after this and were playing some good one-touch football which frustrated the visitors. Just on the 44th minute a quick ball from Mark Kavanagh on the left wing to the overlapping Kevin Anthony gave room for the full back to knock the ball square to Mick Clowery for a cool tap in. 2-0 at half time with plenty of work left to do. The second half opened up a bit as tired legs started to show but this didn’t trouble Moones back four who were solid throughout. A long throw-in from JJ Grace on 60 minutes found Emmett Daly at the back post to finish the game off. 3-0 the full time scores with Anthony Hegarty, Kevin Anthony, Gary Hendy and Mick Clowery all playing well for Moone.
Moone Celtic 2 – 1 Liffey Celtic, League Cup 1st round 05th October.
There’s nothing like a good cup game to bring out the best in a team and Moone didn’t disappoint in this one. The scoreline was somewhat flattering to the visitors as Moone could have had five by half time if it wasn’t for some brave defending from Liffey. Moone’s first came from midfield “power house” Paddy o Brien who took his chance when presented. Straight from the tip-off Liffey attached Moone’s defence who seemed to be flat footed for once in the game and were awarded a penalty from a mistimed tackle. 1-1 at half time with Moone very much on top. Moone started as they had finished the first half and soon opened up Liffeys defence to allow Emmett Daly in to claim what turned out to be the winner. Twenty minutes left on the clock the visitors tried hard to get the equaliser but couldn’t break down Moone’s defence which saw a man of the match performance from Gary Hendy playing centre half. Others who played well for Moone were JJ Grace, Anthony Hegarty and Kevin Anthony.
Portlaoise Celtic 4 - 2 Moone Celtic, League game 28th September.
This was always going to be tough for Moone as Portlaoise haven't been beaten yet this season. Although if you play without conviction and purpose like Moone did you shouldn't expect results. In the end Moone had a chance to get a 3-3 draw but didn't take their chance and Portlaoise took the ball on the break and took full advantage of Moone defence which was in disarray. Some good performances all the same from JJ Grace, Willy Kelly and Kevin Anthony
Navan Cosmos 7 – 0 Moone Celtic, LFA Junior Cup 21st September.
This was always going to be a huge challenge for Moone to take on. Navan, who reached the fifth round of this competition last year were very professional in there approach to the game. An hour warm up for the home team is normal practice and this must have subconsciously affected the lads from Moone as right from the start the visitors looked nervous and couldn’t get on the ball. Two up after just ten minutes Navan were coasting. Moone were without a number of 1st team regulars and stand in keeper for the day Paul Dowling could do nothing to stop any of Navans goals. 4-0 at half time the game was over as a contest. Although some brave performances from Paul Langton, Mick Clowery, Niall Dooley and Sean Kelly as Moone were glad to hear the final whistle in Navan.
Moone Celtic 3 - 7 Newbridge Town, League game 14th September.
Awful, lazy, unwatchable are just three words to describe Moones performance today. Newbridge came prepared and looked the most interested team in winning this game by far. Newbridge found themselves two up after fifteen minutes with some basic football to beat the Moone defense. After sitting on this lead Moone started to improve a little and were on level terms just before the break with a fine strike from Vinny Dowling and a goal mouth scramble knock in from Mick Clowery. The second half has to go down as the most bizarre 45 minutes of football ever seen as Newbridge were reduced to nine men seemed to apply even more pressure on Moone. Two og's from the Moone defense didn't give them much hope of getting anything out of this. 7-3 to the visitors the final score as this will be one game Moone will have to put behind them in a hurry.
Liffey Celtic 4 - 1 Moone Celtic, League game 7th September.
A scoreline that didn't reflect the true nature of the game. Moone started off pretty much on top with the odd break from Liffey been dealt with each time by Moone's back four. A well worked one-two between Johnny Dunne and Kevin Anthony on the right wing gave Anthony a chance just at the edge of Liffey's area,a first time strike found the top corner on 25 minutes. For the second week in a row Moone sat back on this lead and seemed to invite Liffey to score. It wasn't long before Liffey found the back of the net with a well timed run to beat two defenders. 1-1 at half time with Moone been well on top. The second half started slow but soon, against the run of play a rare defensive error saw Liffey take the lead on 54 minutes. Moone's heads dropped and were further down on 60 when Liffey took full advantage of a second mistake in Moone's defense. Still trying to salvage something Moone threw everything forward only to be found wanting right on full time. 4-1 the final score with Paddy o Brien, Mick Clowery, Anthony Hegarty and man of the match Kevin Anthony all doing well for Moone.
Moone Celtic FC 1 - 1 Straffan AFC, League game 31st August.
Right from the start Moone dominated the game and soon found themselves one up with a great move up the left wing, a perfectly placed cross from Mick Clowery to find Vinny Dowling who gave Straffan;s keeper no chance. Moone sat back a bit after that and were caught out yet again with a foul inside the box to give the visitors a penalty which they took full advantage of. 1-1 at half time both sides were glad to see the break for some well deserved refreshments. Straffan's back four and keeper were on top form as attack after attack were dealt with each time. 1-1 it finished with another encouraging display from Moone. Best for Moone were Willy Kelly, Kevin Anthony, Micheal Clowery and Barry Anderson.
Moone started off the better of the two sides and looked to be settling down quicker than the home side until the 20th minute when against the run of play Kilcock got the breakthrough on 20 minutes to settle themselves down. With the lead confidence grew and they soon applied plenty of pressure to push Moone back to their 18 yard box. The constant pressure resulted in a penalty been given on the 35th minute for an alleged handball which Moone Keeper Ken Darcy saved brilliantly. This revived Moone who started to take control of the game and turn the tables. 1-0 at half time Moone came out stronger in the second half. Kikcock were soaking up all the attacks only to be found wanting at the back post from a long throw in from JJ Grace where Kevin Anthony cooly headed into the net on 65 minutes. It looked like this was going to end up all square when five minutes from time Kilcock got another penalty but Moones keeper couldn't keep this one out. 2-1 to the home side at the end with John Whelan, Ken Darcy, Paddy o Brien and Willy Kelly all playing well for Moone.
